Cupping

Traditional Chinese Medicine believes that pain results from the stagnation of Qi (Life Force energy), vital fluids, lymph, phlegm, and blood. Chinese cupping is therefore a method of breaking up the blockage to restore the body’s natural flow of energy.

Cupping is a type of alternative therapy that has been used for thousands of years dating back to early Egypt, China and Greece. It involves placing small glass cups on the skin to create suction, to disperse and break up stagnation by drawing congested blood, energy or other humors (specific bodily fluids) to the surface.

The suction and negative pressure provided by cupping can help with almost every single body system. Here are a few examples:

> Aches & Pains:  “Where there’s stagnation, there will be pain. Remove the stagnation, and you remove the pain.”

> Overall Health:  Improves overall circulation, blood flow, promotes cell repair, helps to form new connective tissue, creates new blood vessels in the tissue.

> Respiratory Conditions: Helpful for the lungs,  can clear congestion from a common cold or help to improve asthma symptoms.

> Detoxifying: removes toxins and improves blood flow through the veins and arteries. Especially useful for athletes is cupping’s potential to relieve muscle spasms.

> Digestion:  Improves metabolism, provides relief from constipation, a healthy appetite, and stronger digestion.

> Mental Health: Anxiety, Chronic fatigue, migraines, and so much more

Please Note:  Cupping can leave bruising that may take a few days to disappear.  The amount of bruising is said to correlate with the toxins released from the body during treatment.

Cupping will be provided at Light*House by Lisa Martelly

Lisa worked very happily as an interior designer for the past 20 years. Approximately 5 years ago she was diagnosed with lupus and her quality of  life changed dramatically. She felt exhausted, sick and sore. She saw various doctors who all prescribed medications to treat her symptoms, but the meds created more problems.

She finally turned to alternative forms of healing and that changed everything. She saw a naturopath who changed her diet and prescribed supplements and some other techniques to relieve her symptoms.

Cupping is one of the modalities that was  recommended and the effects were amazing. Almost immediately, her inflammation and joint pain were relieved and she was sleeping well again for the first time in years. She felt like herself again.

She was so passionate about cupping that she decided to become certified so that she can share these amazing benefits with others. Helping others feel better has become so much more rewarding than interior design ever did. Making someone’s house look beautiful is nice, but  helping someone FEEL better is the best! “
